Fingers Crossed

Hey guys! I feel like it's been forever since I posted last. I have a few updates that I am so happy to share!! First of all... I finally completed the process for becoming a Certified Substitute Teacher.. woo hoo!! I am soooo excited. Also... I have applied to be on the sub list at 5 different school systems! I've already had one interview and should be hearing something soon on their decision. I am one step closer to at least being in the  classroom gaining some sort of experience while I'm still obtaining my degree.

In other news... distance education may NOT be my thing. It's so much harder to stay focused than I thought it would be. I have taken other online classes before and completed them just fine, but this new college that I have chosen to attend is much different. They send out contracts for each class which is pretty much composed of a start date and an end date (6 months after the start date), syllabus, and signatures from both the student me and the professors. Then... that's it! Your in... now GO! Easy.. right? Um... no. There are no due dates on anything, no test dates, just Jess' own leisure. It has its perks because if I don't have time to do homework or complete a test one day... it really doesn't matter. But at the same time... I need deadlines people!!

Even Jordie is bored with this whole homework/ school thing! Look...

Anyway... hope everyone has had a wonderful week thus far and I will keep you updated on my soap opera of a life.

Until then... TOODLES!

Sara,
Congrats on your new puppy!!! Jordie is a handful at times but I wouldn't trade her for the world! Wish you lived closer... we could have puppy playdates!

Jaime,
Thanks for the motivation! Keep it coming!!! I am weighing my options of transferring schools when i am finished with the classes that I am enrolled in presently. I just want to see what my other options are that would be feasible with my work schedule.

Jordie is a mess... she is one of a kind for sure with TONS of personality!

That "do your own thing" would result in me waiting until the ABSOLUTE LAST SECOND to do anything (as in the day before the class was to finish)! Is it possible for you to give YOURSELF deadlines?

Look at what you have to do and then space it out between the time that you have for the class. Maybe that will help you. I would not be able to handle a class like that--I'm way too controlling to be able to just "wing it" on my own. I need deadlines!

You sound as if you are a similar journey that I am on. Except my is from a corporate office to a classroom. I love the change. I found out being a sub gets you connections but not experience. It doesn't count. =( Thanks for nominating me for an award. I look forward to reading more about your adventures!!

A part of me would have loved a school with no deadlines, but at the same time I'm a total procrastinator and I know I would take months to do one course. Just keep at it and learn as much as you can when substituting:)

@ Sunny- Im so glad you feel my pain! Im getting through it... but not without kicking and screaming. I think I have found another option for myself for next semester... *fingers crossed*

@Misty- Thanks for the advice. Yes, I am just excited to gain some in classroom experience for myself... not so much for resume or job purposes. I, do, however hope that I can network while doing so!

@Mrs. Sheehan- Thanks so much for stopping by. Yes, Im not a total procrastinator... however, having a full-time job, maintaining a household with a husband and very active little puppy, I feel like its harder to commit to doing schoolwork when I know I still have like 4 months left. Reality shows are a thing of now... schoolwork is later... haha
